Family Centered Treatment Foundation and Pinnacle Family Services Win Grant to Help High Risk Youth in Gaston and Randolph County

Thursday, June, 23, 2022—Family Centered Treatment Foundation, a national nonprofit organization working to bring home-based family therapy to high-risk communities and Pinnacle Family Services, a North Carolina based foster care services agency received a $246,400 grant from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. Family Centered Treatment Foundation has been preserving families for over 30 years by training practitioners in high-risk communities and giving families better treatment options that focus on keeping them together.

This increased funding will support the expansion of the Family Centered Treatment/Fostering Solutions Program. For many of the youth that are at significant risk of being committed to custody or another facility, there is limited access to quality mental health services. Some of these youth have either been in other mental health services that were unsuccessful while other youth have not accessed any mental health services at all. Navigating the mental health system is difficult for parents which can lead to barriers in getting needed services for the youth and their families. This program will allow youth who are at significant risk to remain in their home and community. Getting the youth and family into appropriate and needed mental health services as soon as possible is key. Pinnacle Family Services, a trusted partner of Family Centered Treatment Foundation, will provide a crisis bed alternative for youth as a last resort when remaining in the home is no longer an option due to the crisis event.

"This award will allow access to badly needed services for hundreds of families in North Carolina. We are grateful and excited to be able to serve our NC communities at a time when the need is so profound”, said Tim Wood, LCMHC Executive Director of the FCT Foundation.

The North Carolina Department of Public Safety issued a Request for Proposals as part of their Intensive Intervention Services initiative to provide critical services that meet the needs of North Carolina’s most at-risk youth.
